Grady Pickens

Grady Pickens, also known to most as “Goob,” 83, of Savannah, departed this life on Saturday, November 29, in Jackson, Tennessee.
He was a true outdoorsman at its finest. He worked in the woods all of his life logging and cutting timber.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and doing anything outdoors. He loved to have a garden every year, and could grow the best watermelons in the county. His dog, Coco, was his best friend, and followed him around everywhere he would go.
He is survived by the love of his life Ellen Pickens; and two kids, Lisa and Laura. Grady had eight siblings, Jasper (Ruth) Pickens, William (Elizabeth) Pickens. Kate (Lloyd) Franks, Thelma (Tim) Hemby, Estelle (Robert) Connor, Nanny Sue (Gene) Copeland, Edna (William) Morris, all proceed him in death. He has one living sister Nancy (Jerry) Webb. His grandkids are Linda, Leslie, Anna, Derek, and Maria. He also had several great- grandkids, Lauren and Charlize, Danny, Denise, and Johnathan, Lauren, Abigail and Dawson, Hudson and Ellie.
He is preceded in death by his son, Lewis, who they shared a special bond together like no other. He was also preceded in death by his father, Buck; and mother Lennie Mae Pickens.
Memorial services were held on Thursday, December 4, at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Savannah, Tennessee, with Daniel Holt officiating. Burial followed at Pickens Cemetery in Savannah, Tennessee.
