Glenda Marie “Granny” Hammock Jackson, 85, of Counce, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 5. She was born on Dec. 27, 1939, in Hardin county, Tennessee, to the late McKinley “Bud” and Martha Hammock.
On May 19, 1960, she was united in marriage to Clifford Dean Jackson who preceded her in death on Nov. 4, 2011.
She is survived by a daughter, Lisa Fernandez (Joe) of Miami, Florida; two sons, James Jackson (Tiffany) of Hopkinsville, Kentucky and Billy Jackson (Beth) of Counce, Tennessee; her adored grandchildren, Joseph Jackson, Earla Jenkins, Clifford “Spud” Jackson, Brooke Wood, Cheli Matlock, Caden Jackson, Heath Jackson, and MacKenzie Jackson, all of Counce, Tennessee, Chris Salazar and Joey Fernandez of Miami, Florida, Tony Salazar of Millington, Tennessee, and Nick Jackson of Hopkinsville, Kentucky. She was also blessed with 19 great-grandchildren; and two in utero; four sisters, Brenda Shelby of Savannah, Nina Felker of Counce, Carolyn Powell of Odenville, Alabama, and Betty Vincent of Lafayette, Georgia; brother, Donnie Hammock of Rock City, Georgia; and host of extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by three brothers, Howard, James and Ronnie Hammock.
“Granny,” as she was affectionately known not only by her family, but the community as a whole due to her many years working at the local Ray and Sandy’s Big Star in the deli. She also worked at Brown Shoe Company until retiring. She loved playing bingo and games on her computer. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Memorial services were held on Friday, Feb. 7, 2025 at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Adamsville, with Gerald White officiating. Burial followed at Pap’s Cemetery in Counce, Tennessee.
