Glenda Jane Rainey Hickman, 79, of Savannah, departed this life on Tuesday, Dec. 10. She was born on Jan. 24, 1945, in Clifton, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Leonard Lee Rainey and Looney Maude Staggs Malone.
On Sept. 24, 1976, she was united in marriage to Larry Joe Hickman, who preceded his wife in death on June 18, 1996.
Glenda worked at Walmart in Savannah for many years in the bakery department and as a door greeter. After retirement, she enjoyed being a member of the “Pink Ladies” at Hardin Medical Center. Glenda was a huge fan of Elvis Presley. She visited Graceland in Memphis many times throughout her life and loved to add to her collection of Elvis memorabilia. She also enjoyed watching her soap operas on tv and relaxing in her recliner. The most important thing in Glenda’s life was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Nothing brought her more joy than her family being together and she prayed for each and every one of them multiple times a day. Glenda was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Savannah, Tennessee. She loved the Lord and was proud to tell others she was a Christian.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
She is survived by her daughters, Lyndie White (Stanley) and Kimberly Hickman (Erik Bryars); grandchildren, Tyler Cummings (Callianne), Lari Grace Garrison (Montana), Abby Spruill (Chris), Kailei Navarro, Jackson Price, Wesley White, and Sydney Clapp; and great-grandchildren, Isley Aleesia Garrison, Zander Orion Garrison, and Eden Hope Cummings.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Riverwick Assisted Living and Legacy Hospice for the excellent care they provided to Glenda.
Memorial services were held on Friday, Dec. 13, at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Savannah, with Daniel Holt officiating. Burial followed at Lake Hill Memorial Gardens in Bethel Springs, Tennessee.
