Geraldine Adkisson (1-28-18) service 1-30-18

Geraldine Kennedy Adkisson was born on June 23, 1943, the daughter of the late William Eldon Kennedy and Clyde Kennedy Traylor.  On Oct. 15, 1961, she was united in marriage to Rex Adkisson, who survives.
Geraldine was owner/operator of the Kiddie Shop in Savannah for more than 18 years before retiring.  She was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church in Savannah, where she served her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ devotedly for over five decades, recently being honored and recognized for being a Sunday school teacher for 50 years. In addition, she was also a member of the choir, and performed numerous other duties over the years such as working with children’s music, playing piano and organ, and any other duty the church may require.
She was known far and wide for her famous Caramel Tea Cakes, and also enjoyed puzzles. People would often kid her about how she had loved to brag about her “wonderful husband” Rex, with whom she shared her life for 56 years.  She prided herself in her seven grandchildren, and was an avid supporter of Hardin County Sports. She never missed a game or a chance to cheer on her “favorite players,” no matter the schedule or location.
She loved her family deeply, second only to her Lord Jesus, whom she faithfully served without question. She always had a smile for everyone she met, always ready to bless someone with a kind word of encouragement.
Geraldine finished her race on Sunday, Jan. 28, in Nashville, at the age of 74 years, 7 months, and 5 days.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Jana Adkisson Carroll and her husband Kirk of Savannah; two sons, Dan Adkisson and his wife Latonia, and Bob Adkisson and his wife Amy, all of Savannah; three sisters, Jeanell Qualls of West Shiloh, Tennessee, Geneva Seaton of Adamsville and Genevieve Smith of Hendersonville, Tennessee; one brother, Billy Joe Kennedy and his wife Sue of Savannah; one brother-in-law, Harold Littlefield of Adamsville; seven grandchildren, McKenzie Carroll, Molly Carroll, Carter Carroll and his wife Amber, Kendall Adkisson, Addy Adkisson, Walker Adkisson and Abram Adkisson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her stepfather, “Papa” Ed Traylor; a sister, Janet Littlefield; and her brothers-in-law, Owen Lee Qualls, Elmer D Seaton and Jerald Smith.
Services were held on Tuesday, Jan. 30, at 1 p.m., at Hopewell Baptist Church in Savannah with Derek Westmoreland and Carter Carroll officiating. Burial followed in Savannah Cemetery at Savannah.
