Eldon Hoppers

Eldon Hoppers, of Finger, Tenn., was born in Crockett County, Tenn., on Jan. 17, 1942, the son of the late Alvin Walker and Eula Mae Jones Hoppers.

On June 26, 1976, he was united in marriage to Shelia Etheridge, who survives.

Mr. Hoppers was self-employed as an auctioneer for 25 years. He was the manager of John Mansfield and Vulcan Plastics in Athens, Ala. He had also worked at Caterpillar Tractor Company in Joliet, Ill. Mr. Hoppers enjoyed collecting antiques of all types and he made Tiffany lamps. He was a member of the Savannah Church of Christ, NAA and the TAA.

Mr. Hoppers departed this life on Sunday, Dec. 19, at the age of 68 years, 11 months, 2 days.

In addition to his wife, Shelia of Finger, Tenn., he is survived by a daughter, Ywonda Gil of Crystal Lake, Ill.; a son, Kevin Hoppers and companion Patty of Crystal Lake, Ill.; two grandchildren, Tyler Gil and Paige Gil; two brothers, Larry Hoppers and wife Billie Jean of Gadsden, Tenn. and Troy Hoppers of Springville, Tenn.; three sisters, JoAnne Chapman and husband Jimmy of Springville, Tenn., Judy Blair and Barbara Dotson, both of Bells, Tenn.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Wayne Hoppers.

Services were held on Wednesday, Dec. 22, at 11 a.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Bill Shannon, Jim Chamblee officiating. Burial was in the Mars Hill Cemetery at Adamsville.
