Edward Lee “Big Ed” Burns, 61, formerly of Tupelo, died Tuesday, Dec. 3 at Hardin Medical Center. Mr. Burns was born to the late George and Mammie Bailey Burns. He married Shirley Ann Casey who survives.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Burns is survived by a son Quentin Burns of Savannah; a daughter Belinda Ann Bernard of Colorado Springs, Colo.; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Weatherspoon of Marrietta, Ga., and Gertrude Pitts of Milwaukee, Wis., and a brother Freddie Burns of Milwaukee, Wis.

He was preceeded in death by two sisters, Georgia Hollingsworth and Jo Ann Weatherspoon, and a brother, William James Bailey.

Services were held Saturday, Dec. 7, at New Creation Ministries in Savannah, with Eddie Payne and Steve Nielsen officiating. Burial followed at Memory Gardens in Savannah.
