Cherie Ann Casteel Young, 48, was born in Rittman, Ohio on Dec. 12, 1969, the daughter of the late Jerry Fuller Casteel and Edna “Judy” Jeannette Gresham.
Cherie enjoyed drinking coffee on her front porch, watching the neighborhood chickens go roost, and aggravating her father-in-law Archie Young. She was known as “Mama” to many and enjoyed playing Dr. Phil to anyone in need of venting.
On May 12, 2014, Cherie married the love of her life, Brian Young.
Cherie departed this life on Monday, May 21.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her six children; Jeffrey (Brandy) Connor, Jennifer Childress, Joel (Kelly) Jerrolds Jr., Jessica (Mike) Jerrolds, Brittany Young and Brendon Young. She leaves behind 13 grandchildren; Hayden, Bradley and Andraya Conner, Jada, Marcus and Alayna Childress, Keith, Jaylyn and Jordyn Jerrolds, Navaeh, Kerrigan and Amara Young, and Layken Jerrolds.
She is survived by five brothers and two sisters and preceded in death by her parents and four siblings.
A memorial service is planned for June 2, at Second Baptist Church on Belmont Street, Savannah, at 10 a.m.
Cherie will forever be missed but her legacy will go on in the lives of all the people she touched.
