Carolyn Ann Stihel, 74, of Savannah, died Monday, April 29, at Hardin Medical Center in Savannah.

She was born in Akron, Ohio, the daughter of the late Blair and Evelyn Brown Nance Eiseman. She was united in marriage to George Patrick Stihel, who survives.

Mrs. Stihel served her country for two years in the United States Marine Corps. She was employed as a teacher with the Hardin County Board of Education for 30 years. She also served as president for the Tennessee Teachers Association. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Savannah.

Prayer service will be Friday, May 3, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Memorial mass will be at 12 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

In addition to her husband, Pat of Savannah, she is survived by a son, Gregory "Greg" Stihel of Albuquerque, N.M.; and a daughter, Gayle Lynn Hardwick of Brentwood, Tenn.; two sisters, Bonnie Berryhill of Corpus Christi, Texas and Joy Dicksen of Savannah; three grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a son, George Patrick "Rick" Stihel.
