B.H. "Hambone" Odom

B.H. "Hambone" Odom was born in Bartow, Fla., on Nov. 13, 1925, the son of the late B.H. and Frankie Cox Odom.

On Nov. 22, 1988, he was united in marriage to Jana Kincaid, who survives.

Mr. Odom worked for PCA for 45 years. He was a member of Savannah Church of Christ and Shriners. Mr. Odom coached and mentored many children. Mr. Odom graduated from University of Florida, where he played for the Florida Gators. Mr. Odom was kindhearted, loyal and was caring to all. He had a great amount of compassion for animals, he often rescued and adopted strays.

Mr. Odom departed this life on Thursday, Aug. 18, in Counce, at the age of 85 years, 9 months and 5 days.

In addition to his wife, Jana of Counce, he is survived by one son, Johnny Odom of Adamsville; one daughter, Joy Odom Lee of Adamsville; two stepdaughters, Beth Baugus and her husband Kenneth of Savannah, and Jana Raye Talley and her husband Clagett of Savannah; eight grandchildren, Jaclyn Burdette and her husband Jason, Jennifer Leckner and her husband David, Doug "Bo" Lee, John Reed Odom, Krista Kreps, Kenna Beth Baugus, Ben Kreps and Tray Talley; five great-grandchildren, Chase Burdette, Alan Burdette, Nickolas Burdette, Amelia June Leckner and Kamryn Kreps.

In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by two daughters, Mary June (Junie) Odom and Kim (Boomie) Kreps.

Memorial Services was held on Sunday, Aug. 21, at 2 p.m., at Savannah Church of Christ in Savannah with Clark Culver and Jim Chamblee officiating.
