Bettye Sue Clement Paulk is survived by her dear husband, Leonard.
Born Jan. 17, 1934, to Dewey Milan Clement and Bernice Ella Gill Clement.
She met Leonard Ancil Paulk when walking home from church, he stopped to ask if he could give her a ride.
They married Jan. 26, 1952, in Corinth, Mississippi, living away for a few years where they made life long special friends, Robert and Nancy Oliver. They returned in 1964 to make Savannah their forever home.
She loved family, pitching “washers,” playing rook or pinochle. She had fun. Holidays were special and she loved decorating and preparing for Christmas Eve dinner and games.
She departed this life on Saturday, July 4, in Savannah, at the age of 81 years, 5 months and 17 days.
She affectionately said she and “Lynn” had three children: Brenda Fielder Cornelius (Steve), William Craig Fielder (Jane), and Renee Fielder Wright (Thomas). They were nieces and a nephew, but you would never have known, the love was overwhelming as was her love for the numerous nieces, nephews, great-nephews, and great-niece.
Bettye is also survived by one sister, Mable Ellen Clement Alexander of Washington, Illinois.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two brothers, D.M. Clement and Frank Hardin Clement; and one sister, Jeanie Lou Clement Fielder.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, July 7, at 11 a.m., at Memory Gardens with Thad Calton officiating.
Memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105.
