Bertha Franks (6-16-18) service 6-18-18


Bertha Faye Gladwin Franks was born in Lutts, the daughter of the late James Carroll and Bessie May Dodd Gladwin. On March 31, 1951, she was united in marriage to James Lewis Franks, who preceded her in death on May 22, 2013.

Mrs. Franks departed this life on Saturday, June 16, at the age of 84 years, 3 months and 29 days.

Mrs. Franks attended Forrest Grove Union Church and Abrams Chapel Methodist Church. She loved attending church singings. Mrs. Franks enjoyed gardening, quilting, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Mrs. Franks is survived by her sons, Gary Franks and wife Margaret of Plainfield, Illinois and Michael Franks and wife Beth of Iuka, Mississippi; daughters, Carolyn Parrish and husband Steve and Shirley Massey and husband Bob, both of Tishomingo, Mississippi; grandchildren, Steven Franks, Jason Franks, Daniel Parrish, Mycah Parrish, Leigh Ann Higgins, Kim Massey Williams, Scotty Massey, Austin Franks and Bryan Franks; great-grandchildren, Taylor Rhodes, Emma Franks, Colin Franks, Nicholas Massey, Belle Massey and Sera Massey; and great-great-grandchildren, Braden Rhodes, Emma Rose Rhodes, Lily Higgins, Harper Higgins, Allison Williams, Violet Williams and Bryson Williams.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Franks was preceded in death by her son, Randy Franks; and brother, Billy Joe Gladwin.

Services were held on Monday, June 18, at 3: p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Daniel Holt officiating. Burial followed in Germany Branch Cemetery at Savannah.
