Audition for ‘Charlie and The Chocolate Factory’ on June 8-9

Come one, come all – no one needs a Golden Ticket to audition for the Savannah Performing Arts Company’s production of “Charlie and The Chocolate Factory.”

Auditions are Friday and Saturday, June 8-9 at 6 p.m. at the Historic Savannah Theater on Court Square.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is based on the book of the same name by Roald Dahl and dramatized by Richard R. George.

Young Charlie Bucket can’t believe his luck when he finds the very last of Mr. Willy Wonka’s Golden Tickets inside his chocolate bar. He wins the trip of a lifetime, a magical tour around Mr. Wonka’s mysterious chocolate factory.

Once inside, Charlie and the other four winners – Augustus Gloop, Veruca Salt, Violet Beauregarde, and Mike Teavee – witness amazing wonders: rainbow drops, lickable wallpaper, and even a chocolate waterfall. But what happens when the children, one by one, disobey Mr. Wonka?

SPAC will be casting 19 cast actors, both male and female, ranging in age from 5 to adult.

The troupe also has a need for technical people to assist with set building and lighting/sound, for those who still want to be a part of a stage show, but not on stage.

Performances are scheduled Aug. 17-20 at the Historic Savannah Theater, with times to be determined and the show has a run time of approximately 65 minutes.

Marianna Martin is making her directorial debut with this show, and SPAC President Brent Melson is producing.
