Ann Young (10-9-13) service 10-12-13

Ann Kelly Young was born on April 7, 1935 in Savannah, to the late Thomas Jefferson and Rae Louise Averett Kelly. On Feb. 8, 1974, she was united in marriage to Floyd A. Young, who preceded her in death on May 6, 2007.

Mrs. Young grew up in the Old Town Community, later moved to Nashville, where she graduated from Draughons Business School and began working at the Baptist Sunday School Board. They later promoted her to Lifeway Christian Bookstore manager in Atlanta, Ga., where she resided 11 years. Upon marriage, she moved to Savannah, where she was a member of Turkey Creek Baptist Church, and a member of the Whites’ Family Community Education Club and also a member of the United Methodist Women.

She was career driven, a world traveler and a homemaker. She loved Jesus Christ and strongly believed in the Ministry of Music. Her most important roles were a mother, wife and daughter. She loved hand crafts. Crocheting, sewing and quilting were her self-proclaimed nerve medicine. After twenty years of living in the city, raising chickens, livestock and gardening with her husband and children brought her the most joy.

Mrs. Young departed this life on Wednesday, Oct. 9, at the age of 78 years, 6 months and 2 days.

She is survived by her children, Thomas Alan Young of Paris, Tenn. and Kelly Ann Young of Savannah; special friends, Larry and Charlotte Barton of Bowling Green, Ky. and Jerri Andrews of Winder, Ga.

In addition to her husband, Floyd A. Young, and parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Tom Kelly.

Memorial donations may be made Alzheimer’s Association P. O. Box 96011, Washington, D. C. 20090 Services were held Saturday, Oct. 12, at Campground United Methodist Church with Don Lee and Robin Ashe officiating. Burial followed in Campground Cemetery.
