Junior Ranger’s Program
Shiloh National Military Park; 1055 Pittsburg Landing Road; Visitors Center; Shiloh
A special Junior Ranger camp where you will learn how to become Civil War Signal Corps Soldiers. Each Junior Ranger will receive a Shiloh Signaler Junior Ranger Patch.
The United States Signal Corps was established just before the start of the Civil War. President James Buchanan signed the signal corps appropriations bill it into law on June 21, 1860, the date now celebrated as the birthday of the modern U.S. Army Signal Corps. This branch of the army used the telegraph and “Wigwag” flag signaling to communicate strategic and tactical information long distances.
