161st Battle of Corinth

Shiloh National Military Park; 501 W Linden St, Corinth, MS

On Saturday, September 30, and Sunday October 1, the park will present cannon firing demonstrations, ranger led talks, and a special artifact exhibit featuring items and weapons of the 14th Missouri/66th Illinois Regiment, also known as Birge’s Western Sharpshooters.

Civil War cannon firing demonstrations will take place behind Battery Robinett. Learn about the equipment, ordnance, and duties of 19th century artillerists. See and hear a 6-pounder Field Piece being fired.

Schedule of Saturday’s programs:

10:30 am – Daniel Murray: The Experience of an Irish Solider
11:00 am – Cannon Firing Demonstration
11:30 am – Battery Robinett: The Confederate Attack of October 4, 1862
1:00 pm – Cannon Firing Demonstration
2:00 pm – Kate Cumming: Tending to the Wounded
2:30 pm – Cannon Firing Demonstration
3:00 pm – Battery Robinett: The Confederate Attack of October 4, 1862

The Birge’s Western Sharpshooters exhibit will be on display in the Civil War Interpretive Center. The center is open from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm everyday.
