As temperature plummets, Pickwick Electric asks customers to conserve power

Pickwick Electric Cooperative said Tuesday that TVA, its power supplier, has issued a voluntary power curtailment request.

“With temperatures dropping and even more extreme weather expected in the days ahead, we are asking members to conserve energy,” PEC said. “Together with TVA, we are monitoring the upward trend in electricity use and its impact on our regional power supply.”

Tuesday night’s forecast calls for the temperature to plummet to the low single-digits.

PEC asks that its customers reduce all non-essential electricity use until noon Wednesday.
