Downtown Savannah festival to result in road detours today until Sunday morning

Motorists can expect road detours in downtown Savannah over three days, starting this afternoon until Sunday morning, Sept. 8-10.
Traffic patterns are being altered to accommodate the Savannah Catfish Derby and Riverfest Concert.
The Savannah Police Department reports that beginning at about 1 p.m. on Sept. 8, Main Street from Bridge Avenue to Adams Street will be closed and traffic diverted to Water Street. The downtown area, including businesses and Hardin County Courthouse, will be accessible up to Adams Street.
At 5 p.m., the additional section of Main Street from the intersections of Williams Street to Adams Street will be closed so for food vendor can set up at the Farmers Market.
Beginning at approximately 9 p.m., Main Street will be closed from the intersection of Guinn Street to the intersection of Water Street.
This area will remain closed throughout the day on Saturday, Sept. 9 and is expected to reopen during the early morning hours of Sunday, Sept. 10, after the stage is dismantled.
Officials are urging drivers to use caution when traveling in the downtown area and add additional time to planned commutes.
