Preregistration opens for Savannah Rotary Club’s ‘Run in the Park’ scholarship fundraiser at Shiloh

Enjoy the scenic beauty of one of America’s best-preserved battlefields at the 15th annual Shiloh “Run in the Park.”
Rotary Club of Savannah hosts the four-miler at Shiloh National Military Park on Saturday, Sept. 17. Registration begins at 7 a.m. and the run starts at 8 a.m.
Young and old alike can walk, jog, or run down historic lanes lined with cannons, monuments and split-rail fences. The setting combines the historic attractions of Shiloh Battlefield along trails and roads mostly on asphalt.
The event, which helps support Rotary youth scholarships, has water stations on the course and food and refreshments at the finish.
All runners get a T-shirt. There will be awards for race winners in several categories.
“Runners from the tri-state area and all surrounding counties have already begun signing up to run,” said Savannah Rotary Club Chairman DeLaney Timberman. “We invite all groups and individuals to join us. Whether you are a runner, a walker, or a Civil War history buff, you’ll love this event.”

Organizers said all proceeds go to the Savannah Rotary/Rotary International, which benefits high school scholarships and several international endeavors.
