Running out of time: Saturday is last day to vote early in Aug. 4 election

Saturday, July 30, is the last day Hardin County citizens can vote early in the Aug. 4 State and Federal Primary and State and County General Election.
As of Thursday afternoon, a total of 1,349 ballots had been cast early so far. Of those ballots, 1,043 were in the Republican primary, 185 in the Democratic primary, and 121 in the general election only, the Hardin County Election Commission reports.
“Hardin County voters need to be aware that the August ballot is longer than we normally see and will take additional time to complete,” said Jeanette Cronise, administrator for the local election commission.
“In this election you’ll have the opportunity to choose which candidates will advance to the general election in November, to retain or replace judges and elect Tennessee House of Representatives, U.S. House of Representatives, governor, county commissioners (all districts), Road Board (Districts 3 and 4), school board (Districts 2, 4 ,6 , 8 and 10), county mayor, road superintendent, county clerk, register of deeds, sheriff, trustee, Circuit Court clerk, General Sessions judge, Circuit Court judge (District 24, Parts I and II), chancellor, district attorney, public defender, State Executive Committee man man and Committee woman.
Early voting takes place locally in the Election Commission office at the Hardin County Courthouse in Savannah. Hours are Thursday (today) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.

Reviewing the ballot and deciding how to vote can reduce time spent at the polls.
“With the longer ballot in this election, I encourage Hardin County voters to make your voice heard during our state’s generous early voting period,” said Secretary of State Tre Hargett. ”
Hardin County voters need to bring valid photo identification to the polls. A driver’s license or photo ID issued by the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security, Tennessee state government or the federal government is acceptable even if it’s expired. A student ID or out-of-state driver’s license is not acceptable.
