Adamsville fires police officer named as subject of ongoing THP investigation

A Hardin County identity theft case investigation by the Tennessee Highway Patrol led to the search of a now former Adamsville police officer’s home last Thursday, according to the state Department of Safety.
No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing, said Safety Department Director of Communications Wes Moster the following day. He did not provide the name of the officer under investigation.
Asked on June 24 if any Adamsville officers were currently or recently suspended or fired, City Administrator Kara Hill said only one. Lt. Johnny Deloit was administratively suspended due to being under investigation.
The City of Adamsville responded further in a statement today (Thursday).
“Last week, Adamsville Police Chief Nathan Reagan, was notified that Officer Johnny Deloit was the subject of an on-going THP investigation, which immediately prompted our department to place Deloit on administrative leave. The City began conducting a thorough internal investigation, separate from the THP investigation, and it was determined that based on department values, policy, and procedures, that Johnny Deloit’s employment has been terminated with the City of Adamsville effective June 30th, 2022.
Deloit has not responded Thursday to attempts to reach him for comment.
Deloit was previously employed as a Savannah police officer. In March 2016, the Courier reported that City Manager Garry Welch said Deloit had recently been fired for “basic improper operational procedure.”

This sounds like pretty shaky grounds, until better evidence is presented of wrongdoing!

He needed to be fired, he give me 2 tickets in a month, told me to go to Terry Woods office he would tear them up. The secretary said that was not allowed. If I was speeding it would be different. He just didn’t know who I was. I talked to Cheif Vandiver, that was ridiculous. Court cost is NOT cheap. No court due to covid unless you went in so I ended up paying court cost.A lot of them abuse their “ power”
