THP announces safety roadblock

The Tennessee Highway Patrol announced Monday it will be conducting a sobriety roadside safety checkpoint in the Pickwick-Counce area.
The checkpoint is scheduled to take place starting at 11 p.m. on Saturday, July 2, at the intersection of Tenn. 57 and Tenn. 128 in Hardin County.
The THP said impaired driving is a serious crime that kills more than 16,000 people and injures 305,000 others annually in the United States.
According to the announcement, troopers will evaluate drivers for signs of alcohol and drug impairment. Troopers will target those who operate a vehicle while impaired and take corrective actions for other observed violations.
