Donate a quilt block to benefit HARTT

Shiloh Piecers Guild founding member Jan Huddelson displays a dog-themed quilt block she made for a quilt that will be created by Shiloh Pieced and Present staff as a fundraiser for HARTT.

Savannah Pieced & Present is sponsoring a fundraiser for Hardin Animal Relocation and Transition Team by heading up a community quilt making project.
“My team here are major animal advocates. What HARTT needs most is volunteers – first hint at how you can help – but as a small business with minimal employees, all our time is spent in this building in Savannah,” said SPP owner Tonni Shirley.
“Second option, raise funds. What do we do best? Quilts! But we thought we’d take it a step further ‘cause unique is how we flow and community involvement is our heartbeat.”
Savannah Pieced and Present is collecting quilt blocks from the community to create dog/cat-themed lap quilts that can later be auctioned to benefit HARTT.
“We are collecting 12.5 inch blocks focused on dogs and cats,” said Shirley. “They can be pieced, applique, cross-stitched, embroidered, knit, crocheted… if it’s handmade from washable materials, we will use it. Let your creativity flow.”
Shirley says SPP likes to mix things up, so just send one block, with no repetitions.
All blocks are due Saturday, April 30, by 1 p.m. Deliver quilt blocks to 39 Court St., Savannah.
“We will assemble and finish the lap quilts and hold a silent auction on the SPP Facebook page,” said Shirley. “So get those fingers stitching and let’s shock and wow HARTT with the love and money. So far, we have about 20 blocks. The more blocks we get, the more quilts we can make, which means more money for HARTT.”

Jan is the best. She loved to work with Jenn at Haart and be a foster pet caretaker. Great picture Jan and Courier
