April 4 last day to register to vote in May election

Hardin County residents must register to vote by midnight on Monday, April 4 to be able to cast a ballot in the State and County Republican Primary Election on May 3.
“In the upcoming election, Hardin County voters will have the opportunity to cast ballots for Circuit Court judge Division I & II, 24th Judicial District, chancellor 24th Judicial District, district attorney 24th Judicial District, public defender 24th Judicial District, General Sessions judge, county commissioners districts 1-10, road board districts 3 and 4, school board, districts 2,4,6,8 and 10, county mayor, road superintendent, county clerk, register of deeds, sheriff, trustee and Circuit Court clerk, said Jeanette Cronise, Administrator of Elections. “To cast a ballot in this election, you must be registered to vote.”
She said registering to vote, updating your address or checking your registration status is fast, easy and secure with the Secretary of State’s online voter registration system. Any U.S. citizen with a driver’s license or photo identification card issued by the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security can register online from any computer or mobile device at
“I encourage all Tennesseans to register to vote or make sure their registration is up-to-date before the deadline,” said Secretary of State Tre Hargett. “It is important for all of us to make our voice heard at the polls and with our convenient online voter registration system you can safely register in minutes.”
Paper voter registration applications are available to download on or at the Hardin County Election Commission office. Completed paper voter registration applications must be mailed to the Hardin County Election Commission or submitted in person. Mailed voter registrations must be postmarked by April 4, 2022.
The Hardin County Election Commission on the lower level of the county courthouse at 465 Main St. Savannah, TN 38372. Voters can drop off completed registration forms or register in person Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (closed noon-1 p.m.), and Wednesday 8 a.m. to noon.
Early voting starts Wednesday, April 13, and runs each weekday, including Saturdays, until Thursday, April 28. The deadline to request an absentee by-mail ballot is Tuesday, April 26. Election Day is Tuesday, May 3.
