Robert “Bob” Steven Harwell, a resident of Maryville, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, Jan 14.
Born April 14, 1941, in Mascot, Tennessee, Bob spent the majority of his life in Savannah. After a nine year career in the US Navy, including three tours in Vietnam, Bob returned home and pursued several career paths including Owen’s Corning Fiberglass, Insurance Agent, and opening King’s Pizza in Savannah. Bob was an active member of Bible Methodist Church in Savannah and Pilgrim Holiness Church in Maryville, Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Carol Waters; parents, Rev. W.G. and Margaret Harwell; and brother Ralph Harwell.
Bob was known to all who loved him as a man who would give the shirt off his back. He greeted everyone with warmth, laughter, and a story to tell. He is remembered for his practical jokes, stubborn streak, and a competitive spirit that got Monopoly banned from family game night.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Patsy Alexander Harwell; his children, Steve (Veljean) Harwell, Julie (Mike) Holt; son-in-law, Joey Waters; grandchildren, Megan (Scott) Holt-Hernandez, Ben (Emile) Harwell, Robert Holt, Zach (Katelin) Waters and Abby Waters; great-grandchildren, Audree Proctor and Carolina Hernandez; and siblings, Clara Hairrell, Kathleen Harwell and John Harwell.
Service was held at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home in Maryville, Tennessee, on Thursday, Jan. 20, at 7 p.m. Burial service took place at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Knoxville, at 8:30 a.m., on Friday, Jan 21.
