Herschel Copeland (1-17-22) service 1-20-22
Herschel Wayne Copeland, 80, of Savannah, died on Monday, Jan. 17, in Savannah.
He was born in Hardin County, the son of the late Samuel and Belle Copeland. He was united in marriage to Reba Benson Copeland (Vernell) who survives.
Mr. Copeland spent six years in the National Guard and worked 32 years for Ripley Industries as a machine operator. He was a member of New Pleasant Grove Freewill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Reba Copeland; children, Carl Copeland of Savannah, Charles Copeland of Florence, Alabama, Shirley Cole of Savannah and Sharon Smith of Savannah; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Maxine Alexander and Lorraine Wilkerson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Parker Copeland.
Services were held on Thursday, Jan. 20, at 3 p.m., at Walnut Grove Freewill Baptist Church in Savannah with Carl Copeland officiating. Burial followed in Friendship Cemetery at Savannah.
