Lonnie Murphy (1-1-22) service 1-7-22

Lonnie Murphy, 66, of Savannah, died on Saturday, Jan. 1, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
He was born in Hardin County, the son of the late Raymond Lloyd and Gertie May Hopper Taylor. He was united in marriage to Phyllis Ward, who survives.
Mr. Murphy honorably served his country in the United States Army National Guard. He was a self-employed carpenter and did all types of carpentry work for 20 years. He also worked as the Chief of Police in Clifton, Deputy Sherriff in McNairy County, and as a carpenter at Clayton Homes in Savannah.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Murphy of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; sons, Dale Wright of Savannah and Lonnie Murphy II of Morris, Illinois; daughters, Shannon Hughes of Lexington, Tennessee, Jana Copeland of Savannah, Shonda Reeves of Counce and Robin Butler of Savannah; stepdaughters, Jessica Brewster and Kelly Brown, both of Savannah; brothers, Johnny Murphy, Joel Murphy and Michael Murphy, all of Savannah; sisters, Sherry Irvin and Tracy Morris, both of Savannah; 33 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter; and an infant brother.
Services were held on Friday, Jan. 7, at Plummers Chapel Freewill Baptist Church in Savannah. Burial followed in Neill Cemetery at Savannah.
