“Billy” Roy Baker (1-2-22) service 1-5-22

“Billy” Roy Baker, of Clifton, departed this life on Jan. 2, in Savannah, at the age of 73 years, 9 months and 17 days.
He was born on March 16, 1948, the son of the late George Ira and Daisy Bell Killebrew Baker. On Oct. 3, 1973, he was united in marriage to Linda Roberts, who preceded her husband in death on Jan. 2.
Mr. Baker worked for American Commercial Barge Lines for 38 years and was a chief engineer. He was a member of Riverview Baptist Church in Savannah. “Billy” enjoyed his motorcycle, watching events with his children and grandchildren, and music, especially classic country and classic rock & roll. He was also an avid woodworker and did carpentry work.
He is survived by his daughters, Tammie Baker Seltzer and her husband Tom of Clifton and Stacy Baker Shutt and her husband Wesley of Savannah; sisters, Mary Lee Estes of Zackary, Louisiana and Irine Martin of Southaven, Mississippi; grandchildren, Hillary Ray and her husband Jesse, Karlie Seltzer, Grady Seltzer and Chesney Baker; and great-grandchildren, Kaydence Ray, Scarlett Ray and Madelynn Ray.
In addition to his parents and wife, “Billy” was preceded in death by his sisters, Jo, Jean, Betty, Faye and Patsy; and brothers, John, Wesley, George, Chester, Paul and James.
Services were held on Wednesday, Jan. 5, at 1 p.m., at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Savannah with Allen Guyer and Tracy Love officiating. Burial followed in Clifton Cemetery at Clifton.
