Maxell Franks Gray, 80, of Adamsville, died on Thursday, Oct. 28.
She was born in Hardin County, the daughter of the late Edna and Josie Wilkerson Franks. She was united in marriage to Owen Douglas Gray, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Gray had worked as a seamstress at Michael’s Sportswear in Milledgeville. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Savannah, Hardin Medical Center Ladies Auxiliary and Home Demonstration Club. She had won several awards at the county fair for her cooking, flower arranging, and baking.
She is survived by her children, Sherry Garner, Julia Gaye Hansen, Pete Gray, Jill Willoughby, all of Savannah, Barry Gray of Adamsville and Chris Gray of Smyrna, Tennessee; sisters, Nannie Faye Gray, Deanna Harville and Pat Eklund, all of Savannah; brothers, James Franks and Gene Franks, both of Savannah; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren with two more on the way.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie Hancock.
Services were held on Monday, Nov. 1, at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Savannah with Andrew Bosak officiating. Burial followed in Mount Hermon Cemetery at Savannah.
