Melvina Babiec (9-27-21) service 10-2-21

Melvina Murphy Deshazier Babiec, of Morris Chapel, was born on Sept. 9, 1937. She was the daughter of the late Lewis Murphy and Hester Price. On Oct. 10, 1987, she was united in marriage to Richard Joseph Babiec.
Melvina worked for Thrasher Truck Stop and had a hand in factory work. Her last employer was Aqua Glass for 10 years. She loved to garden, sing gospel music, travel, dance, spend time with her family, and her dog, Sadie.
Melvina leaves behind her husband of 34 years, Richard Joseph Babiec of Morris Chapel; her children, Virgil and Floyd Deshazier, Cathy Little, Joann Rickman, Brenda Keele and Nita Scott, all of Savannah. Melvina had a total of 21 children, some biological, some not; all of which she loved dearly and had a part of raising. She also leaves behind two brothers, Larry and Pete Murphy; and one sister, Bertha Presley. Melvina has 44 grandchildren, and a slew of great-grandchildren.
Melvina departed this life on Monday, Sept. 27, at the age of 84 years and 18 days.
In addition to her parents, Melvina was preceded in death by her sons, James, Bobby and Stacy Deshazier; brothers, Harry and Red Murphy, all of Savannah.
Services were held on Saturday, Oct. 2, at 1 p.m., at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Savannah with Jim Morris officiating. Burial followed in Neill Cemetery at Savannah.
