David Powell (9-5-21) service 10-15-21

David Wesley Powell was born in Bloomington, Illinois, on Oct. 17, 1947, the son of the late Douglas Wesley Powell and Rose Virginia Peterson. He was united in marriage to Linda Ruth Karstetter, who survives.
David served his country proudly in the United States Air Force, retiring after 22 years of service. In his spare time, David loved to study scripture, mow, play his guitar, sing and write music. He had a keen ability to make others laugh. David loved the Lord, good friends and his family.
After a valiant fight with COVID, David, 73, departed this life on Sunday, Sept. 5, with his “beautiful bride” by his side. In addition to his wife Linda of Savannah, David is survived by his children, Michelle Powell, Wendy Iwasyszyn (Michael), David Powell, Rebecca Dubon (Alex), Jennifer Aitken Rich and Truett Aitken; numerous grandchildren; and great-children; as well as one sister, Karen Powell.
David was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Larry Powell; and one great- grandchild, Layla Thomas.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate David’s life at a service with military honors being held: Friday, Oct. 15, at 1:30 p.m., at Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery at Parkers Crossroads, 593 Wildersville Rd., Wildersville, Tenn. 38388.
