Shiloh Park hosting ‘BARK Ranger’ hike
Shiloh National Military Park is hosting a “BARK Ranger” hike” on Saturday, Aug. 14.
Shiloh is inviting families to bring their dogs to the park for a ranger-led hike to the Hornets’ Nest. The one mile hike over easy terrain starts at 10 a.m. at Tour Stop 3.

Participants will learn about the Hornets’ Nest and monuments along the Sunken Road. All dogs completing the hike will receive a BARK Ranger certificate and BARK Ranger dog tag.
The park said its “furriest family members” can become part of the B.A.R.K. Ranger pack by modeling these best practices when visiting parks:
Bag your pet’s waste
Always leash your pet
Respect wildlife
Know where you can go
Attendees must pre-register and bring water and doggie bags for their animals. Children are invited to bring stuffed animals if they wish to participate without a pooch.
Guests are invited to register in advance by calling the park’s visitor center at 731-689-5696. Space is limited and dogs must be friendly and get along with other dogs. All dogs must be on a leash or in a carrier.
A temperature or heat index above 100 degrees or thunderstorms will cancel the hike.
