THP offers ‘thoughts and prayers’ for families involved in surge of crashes in Hardin County

In the wake of three separate vehicle-related fatalities in Hardin County since Monday – including a 12 year old driving a four-wheeler – plus multiple others injured in additional crashes, the Tennessee Highway Patrol is offering condolences and advice.
In a statement Friday, the THP said, “Our thoughts and prayers are with all the families involved in the crashes that have occurred this week in Hardin County. The Tennessee Highway Patrol continues to work hard to reduce injury and fatal crashes, but we need the public to do their part.
“You can help us make the roadways safer by slowing down, wearing your seatbelt, leaving the phones alone while driving, and by not driving distracted or under the influence.
“Our troopers care about you and your safety. So please help us to keep you and your loved ones safe.”

People please stop letting your children ride four wheelers! So many get hurt on them, they aren’t big enough to hold them down! Letting an underage child ride a full size four wheeler period should be a charge especially on a road. They aren’t made for roads!

Sadly I see this everyday, children that look to be as young as 10 years old driving four wheelers and other ATVs on our busy Rd, going up and down a steep hill not looking for traffic on the other side of the hill and flying back and forth on the road and turning around in the middle of the road. I understand that sometimes parents think their children are responsible, but they are still children and don’t pay attention. Accidents can happen to even adults, but why would these kids be allowed to ride alone, cause once out of sight of the adults they are going to be kids and ride like they want. These tragedies are so very sad and I do pray for these families.

I wonder how much of the things they listed would have saved lives. I know in one situation involving a motorcycle death if the THP or any other policing authority had done their job it wouldn’t have happened. Really this all seems to be designed to preempt criticism of the THP.

Well Dude, ultimately it is the person who was at fault for causing the accidents fault. THP can’t babysit each and every driver. The blame is squarely on the responsible person. Only an idiot would excuse the cause and blame the police. You must be a Democratic.
