Katie Hinton (4-24-21)
Katie Ruth Hinton, of Savannah, was born March 5, 1932, to the late Will and Lydia Fondren Shutt in Hardin County.
Katie worked for Bell South, TRP&P, New York Stock Exchange and Merrill Lynch. She was elected to two four-year terms as clerk of Circuit Court of Vermillion County and one four-year term as auditor of Vermillion County, both of Indiana. Katie also had served at Hardin County Senior Center and the Veterans Service Office. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing Bridge, watching the Indy 500, as well as other car races.
Katie departed this life on Saturday, April 24, in Savannah, at the age of 89 years, 1 month and 19 days.
She is survived by her children, William Russell Alexander, Merle Keith Hinton Jr., Pollyann Willis and Kelly Ford; grandchildren, Renee Alexander, Jacob Hinton, Chris Hinton, Joey Hinton and Amanda Sliger; and great-grandchildren, Eli Collin, Ella Hinton and James Willis.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one grandchild, Katie Willis; and one brother, W.L. Shutt.
Katie Ruth’s personality, sense of humor and sweet smile would light up any room. She was loved and cherished by many.
