Carl Smith (3-18-21) service 3-25-21
Carl Mack Smith, 91, of Savannah, died on Thursday, March 18, at Savannah Health Care after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
He was born in Clifton, son of the late Alfred and Rixie Smith.
Mr. Smith was a hard worker, working two jobs most of his life: jobs ranging from farmer, inventor, mechanic and businessman. He retired from GM Fisher Body Plant after 37 years.
He is survived by one daughter, Carla Woods; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Fay Smith and Bill Smith; one sister, Edith Franks; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death three children, Mackie Sue Barnett, James A. Smith and Geneva Smith; five brothers, Walter, Jack, Claude, Bobby Gene, Glen; and one sister, May Smith.
Services were held on Thursday, March 25, at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Savannah with Roger Reece officiating. Burial followed in Prater’s Chapel Cemetery at Clifton.
