Jimmie Ruth Dodd Perry, of Savannah, departed this life for her Heavenly home on Monday, March 8, at Hardin Medical Center at the age of 83 years.

She was born on Dec. 6, 1937, in Lutts, to Warren Cecil Dodd and Willie Marie Faulkner Dodd. She was married to Robert Eugene Perry on July 17, 1954, and they raised four daughters.

She was a longtime member and lay speaker of Abrams Chapel United Methodist Church in the Gillis Mills community. Jimmie Ruth retired from Brown Shoe Company when the plant closed and she enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandchildren. She also took care of her younger sister, Teresa, after the loss of her parents.

She is survived by her daughters, Connie Perry Lewis (Tommy), Shelia Perry Anderson (Marc) and Frances Perry Murphy; two sisters, Martha Stricklin and Teresa Dodd. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Cherish Dickey Creason (Kerry), Amber Brooks Ross (Joe), Wesley Marshall (Valerie), Candice Lewis Warren (Justin), Thomas Edwards and Matthew Edwards; and nine great-grandchildren, Tyler Ross, Reese Marshall, Addy Marshall, Ethan Sanders, Aiyana Sanders, Allison Edwards, Ava Edwards, Riley Warren and Sophie Warren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her daughter, Freda Dianne Perry; her parents; and two brothers, David Earl Dodd and W.C. Dodd.

Jimmie Ruth was laid to rest in Gillis Mills Cemetery alongside her husband, Robert and daughter, Dianne.

Memorial donations may be made to Abrams Chapel United Methodist Church, 445 Gillis Road, Savannah, Tenn. 38372.

Services were held on Saturday, March 13, at 11 a.m., at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Savannah with Daniel Holt officiating. Burial followed in Gillis Mills Cemetery at Savannah.
