Charles Horton (3-10-21) service 3-13-21
Charles Horton, 85, of Savannah, died on Wednesday, March 10.
He was born in Savannah, son of the late John Henry and Dovie Louise Horton.
Mr. Horton retired from the U.S. Army after 23 years of service. After retirement he worked for the state managing state and RV parks around the country. He was a Mason and Shriner for many years.
He is survived by one daughter Jessica Horton Gatewood of Huntsville, Alabama; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; siblings, Jerry Horton of Stantonville, Patricia Martin of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Jeanette Alexander of Savannah and Johnie Ruth Allen of Savannah. He also leaves many nieces and nephews, all of Savannah.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Carol Jane Hargrove and Jacqueline Sue Horton of Ardmore, Alabama; one son, Charles Edward Horton of Williamsburg, Virginia; siblings, Maxine Newman of Mandeville, Louisiana, Lee Paulk Horton of Savannah and Joe David Horton of Savannah.
Services were held on Saturday, March 13, at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Savannah with Daniel Holt officiating. Burial followed in Mount Hermon Cemetery at Savannah.
