Inez Lokey (1-21-21) service 1-26-21
Inez Lokey, of Savannah, was born in Denham Springs, Louisiana on Feb. 13, 1930, the daughter of the late Ray and Ruby Inez Chambers Minton. On Sept. 19, 1949, she was united in marriage to J. Z. Lokey, who preceded his wife in death on Feb. 3, 1973. Inez was a retired sewing machine operator for Brown Shoe Company. She loved singing, gardening, swimming and doing carpentry work. Inez’s greatest joy was spending time with her family and helping others in need. She departed this life on Thursday, Jan. 21, in Corinth, Mississippi at the age of 90 years, 11 months and 8 days. Inez is survived by her daughters, Diane Tilley, Patty Tilley, and Becky Austin and her husband Danny, all of Savannah; grandchildren, Belinda Talley, Dina Davis, Linda Tilley, Glenda Short, Melissa Young, Jason Tilley, Danette Franks, Jackie Smith and Angela Smith; 21 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and brothers, Freddy Minton and his wife Lynn, and Leroy Minton and his wife Doris. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Lucille Minton Forman; two brothers, Donald Minton and James Everett Minton; and three grandchildren, James Bob Tilley, Vera Lee Tilley and Danny Thomas Austin. Services were held on Tuesday, Jan. 26, at 3 p.m., at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Savannah with David Baker officiating. Burial followed in Memory Gardens at Savannah.
