Jennifer Denise Melson Word, of Crump, departed this life on Thursday, Jan. 7, at the age of 43 years, 1 month and 22 days.
She was born in Huntsville, Alabama on Nov. 16, 1977, the daughter of the late Dennis Lee Melson and Linda Joyce Harville Thrasher. On April 12, 1995, she was united in marriage to Thomas Bradley Word, who survives.
Jennifer was a full time mom, and enjoyed spending time with her family and taking care of them. She liked riding four wheelers, dune buggy riding, mud riding, swimming, and spending time at the river.
Jennifer is survived by her husband, Thomas Bradley Word of Savannah; son, Gaige Word and his companion Amber Behel of Savannah; brother, Chris Melson and his wife Teddie Melson of Savannah; and sister, Mendy Harris and her husband Timmy Dale Harris of Wayne County, Tennessee.
In addition to her parents, Jennifer was preceded in death by her sister, Belinda Dawn Melson; and nephews, Drew Melson and Felix Cletis Hunter Melson.
Services were held on Saturday, Jan. 16, at 3 p.m., at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Savannah with Keith Holloway officiating. Burial followed in Mount Hermon Cemetery at Savannah.
