Allie Marie Garrard Jeffreys, of Adamsville, was born on Jan. 9, 1930, in Olive Hill, the daughter of the late Chester Lee and Lula Jane Smith Garrard.
On April 28, 1973, she was united in marriage to Eathel Jeffreys, who preceded his wife in death on Aug. 3, 1997.
Mrs. Jeffreys attended Shiloh Church of Christ. She had lived and worked in several states during her lifetime and had many different occupations. Her employment at McNairy County General Hospital was the longest and most gratifying. She started as an aide and advanced to work in physical and inhalation therapy. Allie enjoyed working in her flower beds, gardening, sewing, and canning pickles for her grandchildren. She deeply loved her children and grandchildren. The love of her family and friends meant everything to her.
Allie Marie Garrard Jeffreys departed this life on Friday, Jan. 1, in Adamsville, at the age of 90 years, 11 months and 23 days.
She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Hunter Jackson; stepson, Jay Jeffreys; nephew, who she thought of as a son, Justin Garrard; brother, Jerry Lee Garrard; sisters, Mary Exielee Harbin and Doris I. Kolaski; grandchildren, Nicole Evans, Natalie Parker, Matt Jackson, Jill Shook, Cassie and Bud Terry, John Eric Jeffreys, Kristen Lea Jeffreys, Alison Marie Jeffreys, Jackielynn Killingsworth and Katrina Killingsworth Stevens; great-grandchildren, Elani Baity Oxendine, Keehin Renee Baity, Brett Lane, Jessie Lane, Scarlett Samuels, Bethanie Evans, Lauren Jones, Johnny Jones and Wesley Shook; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Jeffreys was preceded in death by her sons, Bruce Jeffreys, Bobby Joe Hunter and Gary Don Hunter; brother, Grady Garrard; and sisters, Lizzie Alley, Betty Lidy and Carolyn Tull Miller.
Services were held on Tuesday, Jan. 5, at 1 p.m., at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Savannah with Tim Carouthers officiating. Burial followed in Lebanon Cemetery of Michie at Michie.
