Kelly DeVoe (9-28-20)

Kelly Nelson DeVoe was born on April 19, 1962, in East McKeesport, Pennsylvania.
She went to see Jesus on Monday, Sept. 28.
She was united with the love of her life, Richard DeVoe, on April 21, 2007, and considered him to be her pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
She was raised in the “Burgh” until her early teens, when her family relocated to Southern California where she remained and raised her children prior to semi-retiring to her slice of heaven in Savannah. She always wanted a simple life in the country and everything she ever wanted was blessed to her during her time with us.
She raised a wonderful daughter and son; both of high moral character, unselfish, and productive and contributing members of society; a true success in life. Her marriage to Richard brought her another wonderful daughter to love and a stepson for good measure. Family was the most important blessing to Kelly in this lifetime. The blessings continued with treasures of grandchildren, meant to be loved and spoiled rotten. She loved to be a Mimi.
Aside from her family, the part of life that gave her the greatest pleasure was driving a school bus. She loved the travel to different locations, loving on her bus babies and the chance to make a positive difference in their lives. She also loved watching and interacting with her birds, especially the geese and ducks and observing behavior.
Her adventures with her husband during their time together were the highlight of a life of love and togetherness.
Most folks would tell you that she was bossy and opinionated, but seldom wrong. Don’t argue now, it’s too late…see, right again! Her children will tell stories about getting smacked by a wooden spoon growing up but don’t take that too seriously. More wooden spoons were snapped on the counters than on their behinds. Her beloved will tell you that she could drive him crazy but that he wouldn’t have it any other way.
She is survived by her beloved husband Richard (who has been told he can never date or remarry so back off ladies), her daughter Samantha Hewes (Philip Dolaway), son Tucker Nelson (Mackenzie), late in life additional daughter Meshelle Murphy and stepson Robert DeVoe. These kids took that “go forth and multiply” seriously, blessing the family with grandsons Cody Wenzle, Carter “Dobby” Dolaway, Lane Browning, Elijah Nelson and granddaughters Guillianna Nelson, Lily Hewes, Winter Dolaway, Ashlee DeVoe, Madison Murphy and Caitlyn DeVoe. She never had the pleasure of meeting her final grandbaby, Summer Dolaway. Also surviving are her sister Cheryl (Bret), brothers Doug (Freda) and Mitchell, as well as mother Connie Nelson and numerous nieces and nephews and a brand new great-granddaughter, Tokyo.
Her cremated remains will be scattered at home with some of the remains planted with “Mimi” trees on various properties as a memorial. Her end of life celebration will be announced and all are welcome to come share a funny story at her expense. Brother Chris Ozment will be speaking for a few moments at the celebration.
