Melvin Clinton Benson (9-23-20) service 9-26-20

Melvin Clinton “Paw” Benson, 85, of Savannah, died on Wednesday, Sept. 23.
He was born in Hardin County, the son of the late Arch D. and Lou Austin Benson. He was united in marriage to Margie Austin, who survives.
Mr. Benson had been employed with Bevis Custom tables for 17 years and Florence Packing House for 12 years.
He is survived by his wife, Margie “Maw” Benson of Savannah; children, Dennis Benson and Connie Benson, both of Savannah; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Stanley Benson of Savannah; sisters, Jennie Mitchell of Savannah, Gladys Windslow of Jackson, Tennessee, Reba Moore and Bessie Smith, both of Savannah.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Calvin Benson, William Benson and Jerry Benson; and sisters, Dessie Taylor, Peggy Edwards and Ruby Stark.
A graveside service was held on Saturday, Sept. 26, at Hollands Creek Cemetery in Savannah with Kevin Smith officiating.
