Robert Stewart

Robert Deroy Stewart, 88, of Savannah, died on Friday, Aug. 14, in Savannah.
He was born in Hardin County, the son of the late William Henry and Lydia Pirl Morton Stewart. He was united in marriage to Mary Joyce Alexander, who survives.
Mr. Stewart served his country in the United States Army, serving three years during the Korean War. He was a member of Bible Methodist Church in Savannah.
Upon his retirement as a shipping clerk for General Electric in Selmer in 1993, he enjoyed his catfish farm in Shiloh named Sunrise Slope.
Along with his wife Mary Joyce Stewart of Savannah, he is survived by three daughters, Nancy Crumby of Savannah, Carol Carpenter of Brentwood, Tennessee, and Amy Crossman of Hendersonville, Tennessee; two sons, Charles Stewart of Savannah and Matt Stewart of Vancoover, Washington; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Droke; three sisters, Mevolyn Francouver, Josey Victory and Edna Henson; and six brothers, Fulton Stewart, Clinton Stewart, Glenn Stewart, Arnold Stewart, Nelson Stewart and Andrew Stewart.
Services were held on Sunday, Aug. 16, at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Savannah with Ron Carlson, Brad Stewart and Jim Droke officiating. Burial followed in Memory Gardens at Savannah.
