Mary Ella Gant (8-13-20) service 8-15-20

Mary Ella Gant
On Thursday, Aug. 13, around 2 p.m., this earth lost the most loving, kindest and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, daughter, and aunt this world has ever known. That day, Mary Ella Bain Gant went to be with her heavenly Father.
Mary Ella was born on Jan. 14, 1931, to Bluford Liga and Lillie Alexander Bain, who preceded her in death.
Mary Ella was united in marriage to James L. “Bill” Gant on July 27, 1946. Her dearly loved husband also preceded her in death on Sept. 14, 2000.
From this union, four children were born: Judy Gant of Savannah, Brenda Gant Pigue of Jackson, Tennessee, Linda Gant Hill (John) of Savannah, and beloved son Billy “Butch” Gant (Kathy) of Savannah, who also preceded her in death.
Mary Ella retired from Brown Shoe Company when her first grandson, Johnny, was born, to become a full-time grandmother. Her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren were the lights of her world. She had a special gift that made each one of them know how important they were to her, a loving playful spirit that encouraged each child to recognize how much they were loved. All the children grew up knowing there was a special place in Momma Gant’s home and heart for each one of them. Holidays, special events, and plain ordinary days were all magical if you were in her presence. This beautiful, humble, servant of God lived her life making the world a better place for others.
Other than her daughters, Judy, Brenda and Linda, Mary is survived by a brother, Harvey Gene Bain (Joyce) of Lenoir City, Tennessee; sister-in-law, Terri Bain of Florida.
Grandchildren, Johnny Hill (Kam) of Savannah, Steven Hill (Christie) of Shreveport, Louisiana, Meleah Gant of Pickwick, Adam Pigue of Jackson, Tennessee, Jake Gant (Anna) of Jackson, Tennessee, and Lauren Keen (Justin) of Choudrant, Louisiana.
Her great-grandchildren, Hallee Hill of Shreveport, Louisiana, Ella Rose Hill of Savannah, Olivia Hill of Savannah, Emily Keen of Choudrant, Louisiana, Shiloh Hill of Shreveport, Louisiana, Jett Gant of Jackson, Tennessee, Audra Gant of Jackson, Tennessee, Mantle Hill of Shreveport, Louisiana, and Charlotte Gant of Jackson, Tennessee.
She also leaves behind two nephews, David Downing (Linda) of Kentucky, Kurt Bain (Marcia) of Knoxville, and two nieces, Lorie Jaselakia (Tom) of Lebanon, and Brenda Evans (Jimmy) of Florida.
Other than her parents, husband, and son, Mary also was preceded in death by a brother, James B. Bain of Florida; a sister, Elwanda Downing of Kentucky; and niece, Gaylene Downing of Kentucky.
Mary Ella departed this life the way she lived it, with peace and dignity surrounded by family.
Oh death where is thy sting? Oh grave where is thy victory?
A graveside service was held on Saturday, Aug. 15, at Mount Hermon Cemetery in Savannah with John Hill, Steven Hill and Jake Gant officiating.
