Edna Louise Newcomb, 82, of Savannah, died on Saturday, July 11, in Savannah. She was born in Alabama, the daughter of the late Louis Stewart and Carrie Estella Cottrell Cox. She was united in marriage to Kermit “Shorty” Newcomb, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Newcomb was a homemaker and member of South Shiloh Full Gospel Church. She is survived by her children, Billy Newcomb of Michie, David Newcomb of Selmer, Butch Newcomb of Burnsville, Mississippi, Larry Newcomb of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, Kathy Newcomb of Savannah, Lisa Farris of Savannah and Douglas Newcomb of Counce; 35 grandchildren, 79 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Larry Cox of Alabama. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, James Daniel Newcomb and Jimmy Newcomb; one daughter, Wanda Faye Newcomb; seven grandchildren; one sister, Bonnie Lou Staggs; and one brother, Lloyd Cox. Services were held on Tuesday, July 14, at South Shiloh Full Gospel Church in Shiloh with James Newcomb officiating. Burial followed in Center Hill Cemetery at Counce.
