Savannah Farmers Market opening June 3

Later than usual due to coronavirus-related restrictions, Savannah Farmers Market is opening for the season on Wednesday, June 3.
“Everyone on the Savannah Farmers Market team has worked diligently behind the scenes to provide our customers, vendors, volunteers and staff with a safe shopping environment. While a lot has changed over the past few months, our mission to the Hardin County Community has not changed – to offer healthy and fresh food options while supporting small businesses,” the Hardin County Convention and Visitors Bureau said in an announcement Tuesday.
Hardin County Tourism Director Beth Pippin says the market is a popular place for residents to find healthy, delicious food options, health screenings and summer food.
Operating at city-owned Savannah Market on the corner of Williams and Main Streets, the market is typically stocked with produce fresh from the fields, fruits, country eggs, local meats and cheeses, and baked goods. Shoppers can also get home-made jellies, honey and fresh flowers grown in Hardin and surrounding counties.
Due to COVID-19, some new rules and guidelines are in place:
•One shopper per household.
•Wash or sanitize hands upon entry and exit.
•Safely store your phone, and keep your hands free for payments and purchases.
•Maintain 6 feet distance from others.
•Don’t touch any items. The vendors will bag shoppers’ selections.
•Wash all produce after purchase.
•Wear a mask if you have one.
The Savannah Farmers Market group said the number of shoppers being admitted to the venue at one time is limited, and asks that shoppers leave immediately after making their purchases. The market will have a one-way flow, including one entry and one exit.
Farmers Market is open every Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. through mid-November. The Hardin County Convention and Visitors Bureau partners with the local UT Extension Service and Pick Tennessee Products to support the market.
