Edwin Willoughby (5-24-20)

Edwin Lee Willoughby Sr. departed this life on Sunday, May 24, at the age of 92 years.  He was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on Jan. 11, 1928, the son of the late Chester Lee and Daisy Tennessee DeBerry Willoughby.  On April 17, 1954 he was united in marriage to the late Clara Sue Haggard.
Edwin was retired from a career of farming and fuel distribution business. For 44 years he was an active member of Sharon Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and director for many years. Edwin also served in the United States Air Force as an airplane mechanic.  He enjoyed raising a huge garden and sharing with family and friends.  Edwin enjoyed being “Papaw” to his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, Suzanne Williams and husband Randy, Lee Willoughby and wife Laurie, all of Savannah,  and David Willoughby and wife Becky of Hendersonville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Justin Williams and wife Jennifer, Jamie Williams and wife Lauren, Julianne Campbell and husband Garrett, Lauren Willoughby, Lesley Willoughby, Katherine Willoughby and Lee Ann Willoughby; great grandchildren, Taylor Williams, Caden Williams, Lexie Williams, Logan Williams, Addison Campbell, Rylee Campbell, Makenzie Campbell and Hudson Campbell; and sister, Peggy Land.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Clara Sue Willoughby; sisters, Zubie Harrison, Patsy McCullar and Betty Rowen.

Services will be held on Thursday, May 28, at 11 a.m. at Sharon Baptist Church with Eric Smith and Garrett Campbell officiating.  Burial in Mount Hermon Cemetery.
