Pickwick TVA campground boat ramp reopening for Memorial Day weekend

The boat ramp at the TVA campground in Pickwick is expected to be open tomorrow by 5 p.m., TVA spokesman Scott Fiedler announced Thursday.
“We encourage all boaters to continue to practice social distancing measures and precautionary hygiene practices due to the ongoing coronavirus threat, but the ramp will be open for those looking to take advantage of good weather and sunshine and do some recreational boating or fishing,” Fiedler said.
He noted that the eastern portion of the state is expected to receive heavy amounts of rain in the coming days and weeks, and that may mean increased water flow through Pickwick Dam as TVA moves to increase storage capacity farther upriver.
“We don’t expect that will mean going above flood stage at Pickwick or Savannah at this time, but we want boaters to be aware of possible rapid changes in flow rates so they won’t be caught by surprise. As always, please practice safe boating, and, pay attention to and be aware of your surroundings,” he said.
