Hardin County mayor urges residents to respond to 2020 Census

Hardin County Mayor Kevin Davis

This is a very uncertain time for our community and our society.
The coronavirus COVID-19 response has already had a devastating impact on our economy. We must take care not to compound the damage by allowing the crisis to affect our future.
Perhaps the 2020 Census is the least of your concerns today because you may be struggling with lost income, a loved one at risk, fear of the unknown, or you are simply feeling threat anxiety as so many of us are. I urge you not to let apprehension or disinterest get in the way of being counted in the census.
Our county relies on federal funding to provide important services for the community.
We receive a certain amount of money for every person counted here to fund our health department and hospital, our schools, and even the meals available to children right now while our schools are closed. Our law enforcement and fire protection services also count on federal funds, as do the library, senior center, and parks.
Each person living in Hardin County who does not get counted in the census means less money to provide services that everyone uses.
The census is only taken once every 10 years, so this is our only chance to get it right and improve our county’s resources for the entire decade between 2020 and 2030.
I’m asking you to look ahead to the next 10 years.
Take five minutes today to fill in the census form online at www.my2020census.gov or call the Census Bureau at 844-330-2020 to answer the questions by phone.

What about all the taxes we pay ? What about our tags being raised up to build the jail and what not and then never lowered back down . I’m not exactly sure when everyone let y’all depict our lives and take our money and decide on what y’all think is best for us …but this used to be a free country. Not a country where if you don’t fill a paper out that someone on their high horse decided that we had to fill out you could face a criminal charge … What gives y’all the right . And by the way if we didn’t (have to) give a third to half of our checks to y’all every week there would be no need for the census because there would be enough money in the community to fix the roads and to fund the businesses you mentioned but instead y’all want us to fill like we’re doing something wrong by not filling out the census but instead it’s y’all that are doing something wrong getting your pockets lined with hard working Americans hard earned money while sitting around thinking of more ways to rob us all at the same time as getting your pockets greased by company’s and big businesses

I feel this census is just another way for the government to control us! Know exactly who we are and where we are!
