Dorothy Mabry (3-26-20)

Dorothy Irene Walker Mabry, “Mama Dot,” of Savannah, passed away on Thursday, March 26, at her son John’s home in Corinth Mississippi.
She was born on Oct. 5, 1935, in Hohenwald, Tennessee, the daughter of the late James Harlan and Mincie Walker.  She married William M. Mabry Jr. in 1953 and they made their home in Savannah. They were married 55 years until he preceded her in death in 2006. She attended Mt. Zion Church of Christ.
Mrs. Mabry had four children and dedicated her life to them throughout their school years and beyond. She was an avid sports fan and played basketball in high school. That love of sports carried on as she watched her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in every sport imaginable. She was at every game or match that she could possibly attend. Her biggest hobby was needlework that is proudly displayed in her home, and the homes of many gifts she made over the years. Her other great love was singing. She loved to sing in church and did for many years. Being a mother to four children, she loved to cook and bake.
Her life was a living example of a favorite Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 – “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God forgave you in Christ.”
She is survived by her two children, Lisa Jones of Savannah and John Mabry of Corinth; two grandchildren, Chad Jones (Stephany) and Leigh Ann Jones; two great-grandchildren, Stryder and Mabry Jones, all of Savannah.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Rebecca Scott; and two brothers, Larry and Sonny Walker.
