Mark “Sarge” O’Brien
On Monday, Feb. 24, Mark “Sarge” Kevin O’Brien, loving partner and father of three children, passed away at the age of 60.
Mark was born on June 12, 1959, in Chicago, Illinois, to Dr. Raymond A. and Lois Boyles O’Brien.
After graduation from Dorman High School of Spartanburg, South Carolina, he joined the United States Army where he served for 20 years and earned the Bronze Star.
Mark had a passion for traveling and reading. He also loved to go to the races. He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit. One of his closest buddies was his dog “Dusty.”
Mark was preceded in death by his father Raymond; mother Lois; and son Joshua.
Mark is survived by his partner of 15 years Constance Harris; his two children, Jennifer and Kyle; his granddaughter, Lana Piper Howell; his sisters, Glennis (Roger Webb), Kathie (Ron Fedele), Susan (Scott Williams), Wanda O’Shields; brother, Bryan O’Brien; his stepmother, Frances O’Brien; stepfather, Hampton Wade O’Shields; stepbrothers, Roman (Sue) Keating, Charles (Theresa) Keating; stepsisters, Carol (Robbie Johnson) and Mary Keating. He has several nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews.
A funeral service will be held at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery, 140 Inway Drive, Anderson, South Carolina, at 3 p.m., on Friday, March 13. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to help cover funeral cost.
